Arizona Central Chapter of RIMS Scholarship

About:

In 2019, the Board of the Central Arizona Chapter of RIMS established the Arizona RIMS Memorial Scholarship as a lasting tribute to the professionals who helped shape the risk management community in the state. The scholarship was created with a clear and purposeful mission: to support the education, development, and advancement of students pursuing careers in risk management, insurance, and finance. Recognizing the growing complexity of enterprise risks, the need for skilled professionals, and the retirement of so many talented practitioners, the Chapter sought to invest in the next generation of leaders by helping alleviate the financial burden of higher education.

The scholarship not only provides monetary assistance but also serves as a bridge connecting students to industry professionals, mentorship opportunities through networking, and real-world insight into the discipline. By honoring the legacy of past members through this initiative, Arizona RIMS reinforces its commitment to fostering talent, promoting academic achievement, and elevating the profession. Since its inception, the Memorial Scholarship has reflected the organization’s broader vision of strengthening the risk management pipeline while encouraging students to pursue meaningful, impactful careers that contribute to organizational resilience and long-term financial stability.

The Arizona RIMS Memorial Scholarship was initiated in 2019 by former President Sandra K. Little, whose more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Chapter helped lay the foundation for its enduring impact. The program's continued growth and stewardship were guided by our past president, ensuring its alignment with the Chapter's mission and long-term vision. Leadership of the scholarship has since transitioned to our current Chapter President, who carries forward its commitment to supporting future professionals.  The Annual Chapter Scholarship Golf Tournament has been the primary fundraising event supporting the scholarship's success. Through these collective efforts, and since 2019, the Arizona Chapter has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarship funding, reinforcing its dedication to advancing and empowering the next generation of leaders in risk management and finance.
